Snow Day!

Hey, hey, it's Thursday, with me, Savannah.
Izzy and I were playing in some awesome white stuff called SNOW. I've lived in Florida my whole life, so snow is a new experience for me.

I smoothed the wall of the snow fort Isabelle and I had built. "I think we're about done!" I called to her.

Izzy, who was working inside the fort, shouted back, "Yep, I'm finished in here."

Isabelle slid through the narrow opening in the fort and joined me.

"What's next on our list?" I asked. "You know, the list of things we wanted to do on a snow day?"

"Uhh . . ." Izzy drummed her gloved fingers on the wall of snow, trying to remember what we had written. "Not go to school . . . sleep in late . . . eat pancakes for breakfast . . . watch Frozen . . . have a snowball fight . . . drink cocoa . .  . build a snow fort . . . oh, I remember, enjoy the snow fort!"
We ran inside and grabbed a blanket to lay on the floor of our fort, so we wouldn't have to sit on the snow.

I squeezed into the fort after Izzy, who held the blanket.

We spreed the green and white checkered blanket on the snow and sat down.

I closed my eyes and tilted my head back, letting flakes land softly on my face. "So this is snow," I marveled. As I said before, I've never seen snow.

"MJ's leaving tomorrow," I said after a minute.

"Yeah." Izzy looked so sad. She had really gotten close to MJ during the last week. "Do you think she'll even remember us?"

I scooched over and put my arm around my little sister, our hazel eyes meeting. "I'm sure she'll remember us," I said softly. "But . . . if you want to, we could throw a going away party for her."

Isabelle looked at me with wide, shiny eyes. "Really? We could do that?"

"Well, yeah."

"But she's leaving early in the morning. Would we even have time to get together a surprise party for her?"

"I guess you're right. We probably wouldn't be able to throw the party for MJ before she goes to the airport to fly to New York for her next show."

Isabelle looked disappointed until I suggested, "But I bet we could get her some gifts. Then she would have a present to remember us by!"

Curled up in our snow fort, Izzy and I planned the surprise for MJ . . .
